Learn the Trail – Black Creek Park

Posted on

This morning was our first ever  TrailsROC “Learn The Trail” Meet up with the TrailsROC crew. We had a solid turnout of 20+ people.

Our “Learn The Trail” Meet ups are a low key, simple way for people to learn what trails exist in the area and run them in a “guided” way that makes people feel safe and comfortable.

When we founded TrailsROC, one issue we really wanted to take on was the issue of people being “afraid” of getting out on the trails. Runners are often nervous about the trails; Are they safe. Are they easy or hard to runs, will I get lost, is there cell phone coverage, etc etc.

We thought to provide a simple way to address this fear and thus “Learn the trail” was born.

Our goal is to offer an informal, fun run. Anyone can show up, run as much or as little as they like. We had some giveaways today, we will attempt to keep doing this, as we feel it really adds to the event.

This morning we tackled Black Creek Park just outside of Rochester, NY. We had a shorter loop of 3.5ish and a longer loop of 6.5ish. We had some wet grass, some low muck, some wide trails, and a bit of single track.  We even managed to avoid the bugs!

The weather was perfect, the trails were great, and the company was amazing.

The turnout and the runners were exactly what we hoped for. People who love trails, people who like trails, people who are new to trails. We offered a little bit for everyone, and we look forward to continuing these events in the same manner in the future.

Look out for announcements of future meet ups. Low Key, informal, friends running and learning trails.

Join us next time, we had a blast today!
